During this workshop, we will be connecting with the element of Fire from the perspective of our ancestors. The participants will have a chance to awaken their senses by seeing a friction fire and Hawaiian fire building techniques and tasting local food cooked through ancient cooking techniques. They will have a chance to go wandering through the sacred cloud forest to find fire building materials and make tinder bundles to ignite their passion for building fires like our ancestors. The joy my son expresses on a Journey day is worth a hundred 5 star review. Mariah's ease with nature, children, and Hawaiian culture is organic. I am thankful for the lessons and teachings she shares, and the unique opportunity she provides to enhance my child's daily life through nature mentoring. (P.S. always send extra extra pants. For real!) - Anna

"Thanks for such a great camp! My daughter had a lot of fun, felt really safe even when trying new things and learned a lot! We so look forward to having her get to return for a full week once she is a bit older. Invaluable skills!"- Corinne M De Soto, ND, MS Naturopathic Family Medicine

Leah and Franz had a magical experience during fall break camp at Journeys in the Na'au Deep Nature Connection. Franz told me at the end of the first day that “It was great!” Thank you Mariah for giving our children such a beautiful, fun, enriching week in nature.

We will absolutely be back!- Alysa

"Thank you, Mariah, for providing such an immersive nature experience for my children. Through your camps, my children have developed skills, passion, and reverence for nature that they will carry with them far into the future. Your dedication to honoring Hawaiian culture and the gifts our elders have left us is inspiring, and I am profoundly grateful!" -Steve

"I can't say enough great things about our 'Journey into the Na'au'. My kids and I learned so much. Each day we began by asking the forest for permission to enter, and it was amazing how our ears and eyes opened up to seeing and hearing things that we hadn't noticed before. From identifying local medicinal plants and herbs, edible foods, learning how to make a 5 minute fire, climbing trees, knife safety, shelter building, Mariah was able to cater the camp to exactly what our family was interested in. Mariah has a deep knowledge of nature skills intertwined with the Hawaiian culture and it made for a beautiful and memorable experience that we won't forget. Thanks so much Mariah!!" - Beth Winder
