Aloha. I am very excited to announce our Winter Break Journeys in the Na'au, Deep Nature Connection Community Offering, it celebrates the elements and our relationship with them. The details are as follows:
Connecting with Ancestors through the Ancient Skills of the Earth Workshop Series: December 19- 21 (Tuesday- Thursday)
Fire ~Ignite your Inner Flame~
During this workshop, we will be connecting with the element of Fire from the perspective of our ancestors. The participants will have a chance to awaken their senses by seeing a friction fire and Hawaiian fire building techniques and tasting local food cooked through ancient cooking techniques. They will have a chance to go wandering through the sacred cloud forest to find fire building materials and make tinder bundles to ignite their passion for building fires like our ancestors. Woven into the daily activities will be storytelling, giving thanks, sit spots, fort and fairy house building, awareness games and spontaneous adventures.
Water ~Water is Life~
During this workshop, we will be connecting with the element of Water from the perspective of our ancestors. The participants will have a chance to awaken their senses by learning who are your waters to connect and build a relationship with the wai (freshwater) and kai (sea water) of the Kaloko Ahupua’a. Participants will learn how precious water is on the leeward side of our mokupuni (island) and learn the ancient skill of water collection and storage. They will have a chance to wander through the sacred cloud forest to find materials to build a rain shelter. Woven into the daily activities will be storytelling, sit spots, giving thanks, awareness games and spontaneous adventures
Earth ~Drop into Nature ~Empowering the Next Generation of Caretakers of the Earth~
During this workshop, we will be connecting with the element of Earth from the perspective of our ancestors. The participants will have a chance to awaken their senses by connecting further to the aina by learning knowledge of place, being introduced to the art of tracking and being empowered through storytelling, awe, and reverence to be the next generation of Caretakers of the Earth.
