About the event

NATURE| CULTURE| RESILIENCE|JOY

Join us for a day of connection, Vitamin N (Nature) and timelessness in the beautiful Cloud Forest. Over the last couple years, I focused on remembering my ancestral wisdom, on getting lots of "dirt time," and honing my survival skills because my na'au told me that this mana'o (knowledge) would be needed during these challenging times. During our workshop, we will be teaching the fundamentals of outdoor survival skills: how to build a shelter, make a fire, forage for food, medicine, and water, and we can't forget one of the most essential survival skill, awareness!

We will awaken participant's sensory awareness through fun and exciting awareness games.  Additionally, we will be focusing on what our ancestors were doing this time of year. We will discuss traditional activities, such as harvesting & drying seasonal la'au (plants), observing the moon phases, and storytelling.

"I can't say enough great things about our 'Journey into the Na'au'. My kids and I learned so much. Each day we began by asking the forest for permission to enter, and it was amazing how our ears and eyes opened up to seeing and hearing things that we hadn't noticed before. From identifying local medicinal plants and herbs, edible foods, learning how to make a 5 minute fire, climbing trees, knife safety, shelter building, Mariah was able to cater the camp to exactly what our family was interested in. Mariah has a deep knowledge of nature skills intertwined with the Hawaiian culture and it made for a beautiful and memorable experience that we won't forget. Thanks so much Mariah!!" - Beth Winder

"I want to thank you again for inviting me to come and speak to your group about La'au Lapa'au. I feel deeply honoured to be included in your retreat. It was a very special group of women you gathered. I look forward to more gatherings of similar vibrations. Connecting with you and your circle on this full moon was an amazing experience. The quiet calm of the forest was needed. So much chaos is whirling about the globe these days, it was deeply restorative to share in a moment of timelessness with your retreat. Aloha No!" - Momi, Pasifika Wild Women's Retreat
