About the event

Aloha. I am very excited to announce our Winter Break Journeys in the Na'au, Deep Nature Connection Community Offering, it celebrates the elements and our relationship with them. The details are as follows:

Connecting with Ancestors through the Ancient Skills of the Earth Workshop Series: December 19, 21 & 22 (Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday)

Fire ~Ignite your Inner Flame~

During this workshop, we will be connecting with the element of Fire from the perspective of our ancestors. The participants will have a chance to awaken their senses by seeing a friction fire and Hawaiian fire building techniques and tasting local food cooked through ancient cooking techniques. They will have a chance to go wandering through the sacred cloud forest to find fire building materials and make tinder bundles to ignite their passion for building fires like our ancestors. Woven into the daily activities will be storytelling, giving thanks, sit spots, fort and fairy house building, awareness games and spontaneous adventures.

Earth ~Drop into Nature ~Empowering the Next Generation of Caretakers of the Earth~

During this workshop, we will be connecting with the element of Earth from the perspective of our ancestors. The participants will have a chance to awaken their senses by connecting further to the aina by learning knowledge of place, being introduced to the art of tracking and being empowered through storytelling, awe, and reverence to be the next generation of Caretakers of the Earth. Woven into the daily activities will be storytelling, giving thanks, sit spots, fort and fairy house building, awareness games and spontaneous adventures.

"Thank you, Mariah, for providing such an immersive nature experience for my children. Through your camps, my children have developed skills, passion, and reverence for nature that they will carry with them far into the future. Your dedication to honoring Hawaiian culture and the gifts our elders have left us is inspiring, and I am profoundly grateful!" -Steve

"I can't say enough great things about our 'Journey into the Na'au'. My kids and I learned so much. Each day we began by asking the forest for permission to enter, and it was amazing how our ears and eyes opened up to seeing and hearing things that we hadn't noticed before. From identifying local medicinal plants and herbs, edible foods, learning how to make a 5 minute fire, climbing trees, knife safety, shelter building, Mariah was able to cater the camp to exactly what our family was interested in. Mariah has a deep knowledge of nature skills intertwined with the Hawaiian culture and it made for a beautiful and memorable experience that we won't forget. Thanks so much Mariah!!" - Beth Winder

The joy my son expresses on a Journey day is worth a hundred 5 star review. Mariah's ease with nature, children, and Hawaiian culture is organic. I am thankful for the lessons and teachings she shares, and the unique opportunity she provides to enhance my child's daily life through nature mentoring. (P.S. always send extra extra pants. For real!) - Anna
